The year 2016 is considered a milestone, when our company agreed with Saint Paul's Monastery and took up the exclusive management of the Monastery's metochi in the Monoxilit site, implementing an innovative program in Mount Athos, with the aim of producing and marketing the metochi's goods in the Greek market, as well as in the foreign markets under the brand MONOXILITIS In this way, our company contributes, among other things, to the support of the monks, as well as to the preservation of the heritage of Mount Athos, always with the same philosophy and mission: To produce consistently unique products, based on and inspired by the special lifestyle of the Athonites and the rich tradition of Mount Athos, with the aim of offering high quality products worldwide, in collaboration with specialized scientists and well-known organizations. Metochi On the north-western side of Mount Athos, before reaching the port of Jovanitsa, the Monoxilite area spreads over an area of over 800 hectares. According to our historical sources, the name is derived from a monk who used a single wooden boat (in Greek Monoxilo) for fishing, while another version speaks of wood driven by the shipwrecked fleet of the Avars during the siege of Constantinople in 626 AD. The Saint Nicholas metochi at Saint Paul's Monastery, in the Monoxilitis location, is surrounded by pine forests, large botanical gardens and organic vineyards that we cultivate with infinite love and care, in collaboration and under the supervision of the American Farm School. Metochia has two natural sources of high quality drinking water, excellent and uncontaminated soil composition and environmental microclimate. The biodiversity can impress even the most demanding naturalist, in a place where there have been vineyards and olive groves since the beginning of the first millennium. The unique route of the river and its end in the sea waves "Three Brothers", an enchanting place with three cliffs emerging in the shallows of the sea, gives life and views to the native rich flora and fauna. Mount Athos - Saint Pauls' Monastery The Monastery of Saint Paul is located at the western foothills of Mount Athos. It is 20 minutes from the sea and is dedicated to the intercession of Christ. The monastery was destroyed several times due to various reasons, which is why its buildings belong to different time periods. The catholicon was built just before the middle of the 19th century. The monastery has twelve chapels, the most notable of which is that of Agios Georgios with frescoes of Cretan art (1555). Two skete belong to the monastery: the Nea skete and that of Agios Dimitrios. We have the first mention of the monastery in the second half of the 10th century, mainly by its founder Pavlos Xiropotaminos and then in 1259. After the raids of the Catalans, it was reduced to a cell to finally become a monastery again in the third quarter of the 14th century. The 15th century. financially supported by Serbian rulers and, in the post-Byzantine years, by rulers of the Danubian lands.
